5 ways to make your Designers day
1: Have a clear idea of your wants and needs before you call someone in
~ Understanding how you want to live in a space is the best starting place for any designer! Think about your hobbies and daily activities; who lives in your home and how you all like to live in it / What you want to achieve in your space.
Knowing how your space works now and how it can best be updated to serve you better gives your designer problems to find solutions for off-the-bat. It’ll also save potentially costly rework down the line!
2: Understand your design style / what you like & dislike
~ Spend time on Pinterest & Instagram and find images of spaces that you love! They don’t have to all be of the same thing- you might be wanting to upgrade your bedroom, but have pinned bathrooms / you might save a whole host of different styles… it doesn’t matter.
Every image you find that inspires you serves the purpose of showing us what you like and where your tastes lean towards which helps us to find ways of incorporating those likes into your own home!
3: Be realistic about costs
~ Spend some time familiarising yourself with just how much furniture and styling costs & understand that if you choose to work with a designer to help with your decision making, you are investing in a luxury service that you pay for in addition to these costs.
In the long-run hiring a designer can save you time and money by stopping you from making costly mistakes, but that privilege of being able to tap into knowledge and experience does come with a price tag that you need to factor for.
4: Trust the process
~ Some people see in shapes and colours, others see in numbers and words… (Lord knows my accountant and I do NOT speak the same language!) We understand that sometimes it can be hard to realise our creative design visions so we love when you ask us plenty of questions and trust our reasoning.
Changing your mind or doubting the process can cause delays and unnecessary (often costly!) rework- if you loved an idea when you first saw it, trust that it will come together as planned.
5: Share the love
~ If you’re stoked with what your designer has managed to produce for you / you love the way they work, then scream it from the rooftops!
Most designers operate on a word-of-mouth basis & client reviews are their bread and butter. Spreading the word as well as the butter is a sure-fire way to make your Designers day!
