The 4 Best Places to Hang a Mirror

It’s a short and sweet entry for today, because the subject really is that simple!

Mirrors can be a wonderful, uncomplicated tool for enhancing the look and feel of a space. Unlike art, which comes in many colourful forms, mirrors naturally lack in any distinctive colour, instantly giving them an understated and elegant appeal. Because of this, they fit well into all home styles AND they are practical in both a ‘really useful’ and design sense… Ideal!

Read on for my top 4 places to hang them around the home…

1. In your entrance

Perfect for those essential first and last checks before you leave the house, the entrance is my number one spot to hang a mirror.

Better yet; if you have the space for a console or even just a shelf underneath it, this is perfect for storing not only your keys, but also the other essentials for a last-minute primp and spruce! You and your guests will thank you.

2. Opposite something beautiful

Double the trouble and get ultimate bang for your buck by hanging a mirror directly opposite your favourite piece of art, feature wallpaper or spectacular view.

Reflecting a beautiful image gives a formal feeling of grandeur and works to accentuate the original feature in added glossy, framed glory.

3. In a dark room

I’m sure everyone knows this age-old trick!

Mirrors not only reflect pretty faces- they are amazing at bouncing light around a room. Hang opposite a window (if there is one!) or ahead of a strategically placed lamp for the best results! If your window opens to a beautiful view, you’ve got yourself a double whammy!

4. In small room

While in a dark room mirrors expand the available light, in a small room, mirrors can expand the apparent size of the whole room!

This trick works especially well with full-length / floors mirrors that start right up against the floor, as they give the illusion of further space beyond, from the ground up, drawing your floorboards out into the glass & beyond. The ultimate trick-eye!
