New Year, New Look! The top predicted Interior Design trends for 2022
I’m a firm believer in not hugging to trends, but rather buying what makes you feel good / that you can see yourself loving for a long time to come. (This helps to limit unnecessary fashion waste AND means you’ll always be living in the home you feel most comfortable in!)

That said, the circulation of different trends can be great for updating a ‘stale’ space at a minimal cost. The bringing in of new colours or textures you love as they become ‘fashionable’ and therefore more readily available can freshen things up without any real commitment to a full trend overhaul… Cushions and planters are my favourite way to do this!

A new year means new design trends a’comin’ and I’ve done all the crystal ballin’ below so you don’t have to. Here are the top predicted Interior Design trends for 2022! I wonder how many will feature on the request list for Sabah Design this year…
1~ Plant lovers, rejoice! Nature-focussed design is here to stay. The organic shapes, textures and foliage galore bring the outside in and help us to create a spiritual centre and natural haven at home, away from the bustling modern world.
2~ Sustainable design. Just like eating organic, buyers are becoming as aware of where their furnishings have come from and the impact of their manufacture as the foods they consume. Conscious design for the win.
3~ Retro revival. Much the same as clothing trends, Interior trends are cyclical, with this year set to be the return of that seventies show… Earthy tones- greens, browns and fawns are back in business. Groovy baby.
4~ Multi-functional spaces. If we’ve learnt anything over the last couple of years, it’s that we can totally live with less. Expect for home office / gym combos to remain in full-force with a focus on making furnishing these spaces more efficient .
5~ Pattern clashing. Expect to see patterns patterns everywhere! Rugs, line, wallpaper, drapes, lighting, you name it- we’re embracing eclectic in 2022 with pattern tipped to pip texture to the post for best dressed.
6~ Longevity. Hand-in-hand with #3 and sustainable production, more and more we want lasting style- classic designs with a nod to heritage, and the quality & robustness to see us through countless trends to come.
